ANI receives pre-feasibility study of Barranquilla Santa Marta road PPP

Colombia's National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has received the pre-feasibility study of the Barranquilla - Santa Marta road PPP project.

The road PPP project is an unsolicited proposal submitted by Sociedad Futura Transversal de la Ciénaga Grande S.A.

According to ANI's president, Luis Fernado Andrade, the road currently has a traffic between 10,000 and 12,000 vehicles per day. He said that the traffic levels are the principal reason for the high accident rate.

The 49 km road project includes, among others, the development of 3 bridges with 4.5 km length in total and the four laning of the proposed stretch. The new road will replace the 50 years old one, which is expected to have erosion problems in the areas closest to the coast. Construction works are expected to begin by 2017.

The total project investment is estimated at P480 billion (US$164.7 million).

In early October we reported that Grupo Aeroportuario del Caribe S.A.S closed project financing for the Ernesto Cortissoz - Barranquilla International Airport concession. The facilities currently manage about 2.4 million passenger per year.
