The government of Belarus has selected to pilot public private partnership (PPP) projects, the development of the Beshenkovichi hydropower plant and the reconstruction of the M-10 motorway.
The two pilot PPP porjects have been selected form a list that also included:
The government also approved a unsolicited proposal from the private sector to develop a swimming pool as well as residential premises and premises for meals as part of the city center for rowing sports in the city of Minsk.
Pre-feasibility studies have already been developed for all the projects.
The two pilot project are set to be presented during the international congress Public Private Partnership Days in London on 16 and 17 July.
Belarus aims to bolster its portential for utilizing PPP mechanisms with assistance of the Economic Commission for Europe and the UN/UNDP project. According to the World Bank Group, well-designed PPPs can help governments improve the delivery of basic infrastructure services to their citizens.
