California High Speed Rail releases new business plan The California High Speed Rail Authority has released a new Business Plan Plan for California High Speed Rail project. Two important facts in the new plan are the following:
  • CHSRA has increased its projection for the total capital cost from an initial $43bn to $98·5bn,
  • It has also moved the completion of Phase I  back from 2020 to 2033.
A period of public consultation follows publication of the business plan prior to its submission to the State Legislature in January 2012.You can see the press release here and a nice blog post that describe the reactions all around.You can see the old business plan from December 2009 here.
The California High Speed Rail Authority anticipated some months ago the release of the first request for qualifications (RFQ) within the next 90 days and then a request for proposals (RFP) in early 2012
