China Harbour-led team wins road concession in Colombia

Colombia's National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has awarded the Sea highway 2  "Autopista al Mar 2" to a China Harbour-led consortium.

The winning team is composed of China Harbour Engineering Company Limited Colombia (30%), SP Ingenieros S.A.S. (30 %), Pavimentar S.A. (25 %), Unidad de Infraestructura y Construcciones Asociadas S.A.S. (10 %) and Termotecnica Coindustrial S.A: (5 %).

The team beat out competition form two other shortlisted consortia, one composed of CSS Constructores, Controladora de operaciones de infraestructura, Alca Ingenieria, Latinoamericana de construcciones, and Estyma; and a second one made up of Cintra Infraestructura ColombiaFerrovial Servicios ColombiaConcessia, and MC Victorias Tempranas.

This concession includes 245 Km,  27 tunnels and 22 bridges. Specifically, the concession includes the development of a new road between Uramita and Dabeida, the upgrade of a 30.8 km road between Uramita and Cañasgordas, the upgrade of a 109 km road between Necoclí and El Tigre and  a 46.2 km road between El Tigre and Mutatá.

The PPP concession contract cover studies and final designs, financing, environmental management, construction, renovation, operation and maintenance of the 245 km road.

The estimated investment for the project is 1.31 billion pesos (US$423.2 million).

This project seeks to improve the connection of the city of Uraba Medellin and the Pacific Coast.
