Coalianza receives unsolicited proposal for Puerto Castilla port

Honduras PPP promotion agency, Coalianza, has received an unsolicited proposal to develop the Puerto Castilla port though a public private partnership (PPP) project.

The proposal has been submitted by a consortium composed by two local firms, Grupo Larach and Sermaco, and an international company. The name of the latter has not been disclosed.

The proposal was explained on 17 February 2015 by a local entrepreneur, Lenin Palencia. According to him, the proposals is a result of four years of financial and economic studies.

The unsolicited proposals involves the upgrade of the port terminal to increase its twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) transport capacity. 

The total project investment is estimated at US$548 million.

Puerto Castilla is a village in the Colón Department of Honduras located approximately 20 kilometres north of Trujillo. Puerto Castilla lies on the south side of a peninsula sheltering Trujillo Bay. It is the deep-water port which has future possibility for development of a major port for the republic.
