Colombia to re-tender airports concession contract

The Colombian National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has plans to re-launch the tender process for the concession of the Airports of Armenia, Popoayán and Neiva.

This announcement came in late december after ANI had announced, one month before, that they have not received any bid for the airports concession contract.

The concession was expected to be awarded by December 2014 and construction works were scheduled to start by late 2015.

The project involves the design, upgrade, construction, operation and maintenance of the three airports. Specifically, the scope of the works and the estimated investment are the following:

  • The total investment for the airport of Armenia would be P$135,480 million (US$67.4 million). It involves the pavement upgrade of 180.240 m² and the paving of 21,850 m², construction of a new control tower and the upgrade of the international terminal, among others.
  • The total investment for the airport of Neiva would be P$75,000 million (US$37.3 million). It involves the  provision of new equipment and upgrade the cargo terminal, among others.
  • The total investment for the airport of Popayan would be P$75,869 million (US$37.7 million). It involves the upgrade of the passenger and cargo terminal, among others.

The total value of the concession contract is estimated at US$434.6 million.

ANI will hold and information meeting about the project on 8 January 2015 in Bogota.

ANI has recently published tender documents of four new road projects. The road PPP projects will be part of the next phase of the fourth generation (4G) Program of highway concessions. The new road PPP projects are: Santa Ana - Mocoa - Neiva, Rumichaca - PastoSantander de Quilichao - Popayán and Puerta de Hierro - Carreto - Palmar de Varela; Carreto - Cruz del Viso.
