Czech Republic approves R4 PPP project

The Government of the Czech Republic has approved the Expressway R4 PPP project after the feasibility study showed the advantages of the application of the PPP model for the project.

The Expressway R4 connects Prague and south-west Bohemia region and continues to Bavaria. The road is partially developed, from planned 84 km only 47 km are in operation, 5 km are under construction and 32 km remains to be built.

Based on the feasibility study, it is expected that the project will be full operational by 2022.

The project will be developed on a design, build, finance, operation and maintenance (DBFOM) model. The concession period would be between  25 and 30 years. The total project investment is estimated at CZK7.5 billion (US$305.2 million).

This announcement comes after the government delayed the deadline of the tender process to hire legal, financial and technical advisors for the project. The selected advisors will support the government to prepare and launch the tender process to select a private partner for the development of the road.
