Deadline extended for Bangladesh tourism PPP project

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) of Bangladesh has extended the deadline to submit statements for qualification for the Cox's Bazaar tourism PPP project.

Interested parties must submit their qualification documents on or before 30 July 2015.

The integrated development will comprise of a beach resort, entertainment village, golf course and venues for other tourist activities. The project will consist of: detailed design, financial closure, construction of the proposed 130-acre integrated tourism and entertainment village and operations & maintenance of the developed facilities for a specified period.

The project is expected to be financed by the Bangladesh Infrastructure Financing Fund (BIFF). 

The goverment of Bangladesh has Tk30 billion (US$385.5 million) to finance PPP projects through the BIFF. The PPP office also has Tk1 billion (US$12.8 million) for conducting technical surveys on projects. In addition, a total of Tk4 billion (US$51.4 million) has been kept as a viability gap fund to inject money into projects.
