Eversheds appointed as legal advisors to the Bangladesh PPP Office

Law firm Eversheds and Dhaka law firm Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed & Associates have been appointed as legal advisors to the Bangladesh PPP Office IPFF Project.

The appointment follows a review of the country's PPP structure and growing support and backing for public-private projects in the region. The appointment includes reviewing and reporting on existing projects, assisting in the development of policies, procedures and documentation for future projects and advising on specific projects over the 18 months of the appointment.

Eversheds acts for a significant number of clients, including the public sector, sponsors and banks on major PPP projects throughout the UK and internationally and has advised on a raft of top level projects.

By promoting the spread of PPP structures Eversheds remains at the forefront of the development of this type of infrastructure for governments, especially in developing regions where new social infrastructure is most urgently required.

Howard Barrie, Partner at Eversheds commented:

I am delighted with our new instruction in partnership with SIAA. It is a testament to our reputation and strength in complex international PPP and infrastructure projects that we have been appointed to lead this new project. We have vast experience in recent years working on PPP projects in the UK and internationally. We look forward to working with SIAA and Bangladesh's PPP Office to continue the development of a sound PPP methodology for the country that will stand the test of time and that will provide a bankable basis for the creation and operation of new infrastructure for the country.

Nihad Kabir, Senior Partner, Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed & Associates stated:

At SIAA, we are enthused about what this project means for Bangladesh. In our support to the PPP Office, we are part of the next step in improving Bangladesh's infrastructure and we are pleased to be involved in this journey with Eversheds.
