Five proposals submitted for La Rioja health concession

The government of La Rioja in Spain has received five proposals for the San Millán Health Complex public private partnership (PPP) project.

The five teams that have submitted proposals for the project are the following:

The Health Complex project will include different government and public buildings related to the health sector and a 302-space underground parking. It is expected that the new facilities will have capacity to treat about 220,000 people per year.

The project will include the construction, finance and maintenance of the new facilities for a period of 20 years, 2 years for construction works and 18 years of maintenance.

The total project investment is estimated at €80 million (US$86.8 million). A total of €28 million will be used for construction works, €26.3 million for the operation and maintenance, €11.6 million for taxes and financial costs and €13.8 of value added tax.

We have recently reported that the government of Aragon, Spain, had received bids from four teams to develop a new hospital in Alcañiz through a concession contract. The 193-bed hospital project involves the construction, finance and maintenance of the new facilities for a period of 20 years.
