New recycling factories to be set up under B.O.T system. Kuwait
Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr Fadhel Safar said on Tuesday the ministry plans to set up factories under the build, operate and transfer system (B.O.T) for the recycling of solid waste.
Aiming to become a major global aviation hub, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries have allocated an estimated $90 billion (Dh330.5 billion) for airport development over the next few years.
Gulf airports account for a huge chunk of the amounts earmarked for the development of 1,200 airports and military air bases worldwide in addition to the new ones coming up.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Transport confirmed last week it was re-evaluating plans to use a public-private partnership (PPP) to build the 327km Mafraq-to-Al Ghweifat Highway to Saudi Arabia.
The Dh10 billion (US$2.72bn) project, which has been in development for three years, is considered a test case for using PPP on large-scale infrastructure projects.
