Malta to tender hospital PPP project

Malta is to launch a tender process to upgrade an hospital trough a PPP model.

The Mount Carmel Hospital in Attard, which aims to promote mental health within the Maltese society, will be upgraded following a public-private partnership model.

Besides general psychiatry, the Mount Carmen Hospital also offer specialized psychiatric services such as child and adolescence, rehabilitation, old age, learning disability and forensic psychiatry.

The renovation of Mount Carmel will be part of a project that also includes the construction of a new 150-bed acute mental health hospital, where patients would spend a couple of weeks, recover and go back home.

The government have recently issued two tenders – one for the provision of legal services related to tenders that will be issued for Mount Carmel and the other for financial services to issue a Request for Proposals for the acute hospital.

The government also aims to develop a regional healthcare hub in the city of Paola, in the South Eastern Region of Malta. The government will also revamp several healthcare centres around the country and has plans to build a new centre in Kirkop.
