Mato Grosso do Sul tenders aquarium concession

The government of Mato Grosso do Sul (Brazil), though IMASUL (Institute of Environment of Mato Grosso do Sul), has launched a tender process for the development, operation and maintenance (O&M) of the "Aquário do Pantanal".

The contract period is 25 years. The project involves the following facilities:

  • Gallery Aquariums (18 internal tanks and six external tanks);
  • Knowledge and scientific center for Biodiversity;
  • Business Centre.

The contract has an estimated value of R$145 million (US$58 million).

The main source of revenue for the future concessionaire will be the collection of entrance fees from visitors to the aquarium. The winning bidder will be the one who offers the lowest average fare.

Interested parties must submit their proposals on or before 6 November 2014.

The government of Mato Grosso do Sul announced in July this year plans to launch several tender processes for road concessions. Specifically the government announced that five road PPP projects are in planning stage. These are the following:

  • MS - 306: 200.1 km stretch between Bolicho Seco (BR - 359) and Cassilandia;
  • MS - 135: 33.9 km ring road located in Costa Rica;
