Qatar tenders real estate PPP project

Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company (QDREIC) has launched a tender process to seek investors to design, build, finance and operate a Turkish Village development in Qatar.

QDREIC was established in 2005 by the Qatar Investment Authority, the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Qatar.

The project originally announced in 2014 will be located within the Lusail City. Back in September that year, the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Turkish President Recep Tayyib Erdogan laid the foundation stone for the Turkish Village in Qatar.

Approximately 400,000 m2 of land has been allocated for the project. The project will be developed as a traditional tourist attraction which investors, without the obligation to develop the whole area, have been asked to come up with a design to suit their investment corpus.

Minimum equity investment of QAR300 million (US$82.3 million) is expected from the investors. They must credit experience in the development and/or operation of at least 50,000 m2 Gross Floor Area of mixed-use real estate project.

The prequalification closes on 12nd February 2017.
