Sao Paulo signs Sao Lourenco water PPP project

Sao Paulo government has announced that governor Geraldo Alckmin has signed a R$2.21 billion (US$906 million) contract for São Lourenço water concession with a consortium composed of Camargo Corrêa and Andrade Gutierrez.

The project was awarded in July 2013.

The contract, signed on behalf of Sabesp, allows the start of civil works to increase water supply near state capital São Paulo by 7%. Construction of the new system is expected for 2018.

The 25-year Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract involves the build and operate of the São Lourenço water system, the number seven for the supply of the metropolitan region of São Paulo. At first, the water supply should supply water to the municipalities of Itapevi, Jandira, Carapicuiba and Barueri and indirectly Santana Parnaíba, a total population of 1.5 million. The project includes building water uptakes, treatment plants and pumping stations.The projected revenue over the concession period is approximately R$6.03 billion.Sabesp had launched the tender process in November 2012 and it published a new deadline for the process in January 2013.Source: Government of Sao Paulo
