Tender launched for hospital concession in Spain

The government of Aragon (Spain) has launched a tender process to develop a new hospital in Alcañiz through a concession contract.

The new 193-bed hospital will have an area of 73.818 m². The project involves the build, finance and maintenance of the new facilities for a period of 20 years. It will also includes non clinical services and he development of the general access road to the hospital. The total contract value during the concession period is estimated at €451 million (US$513.5 million).

The design was developed by EACSN Estudio de arquitectura in 2009.

The total project investment is estimated at €110.5 million (US$125.8 million) of which €96.3 million will be used to develop the new building facility.

Intereted parties must submit their proposals on or before 9 March 2015. Construction works are scheduled to start this year and the project is expected to be operational by 2018.

Alcañiz is a town and municipality in the province of Teruel, in the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. It has a population of about 17,000 inhabitants.
