Tender launched for the developement of Athens fish market PPP project

The Invitation for Expression of Interest has been published for the implementation of the development and management of the new Central Fish Market in Athens (Greece) through a PPP.

The Central Market and Fisheries Organisation SA (OKAA) will act as contracting authority.

The private partner will be selected through an international public tender, a competitive dialogue procedure. The deadline for the submission of expressions of interest is November 10th, 2014.

The project budget is €13 million (US$16.4 million) and the duration of the contract is 25 years.

The OKAA is implementing a new strategic plan, according to which a central fish market will be developed next to the existing meat and vegetable markets, thus forming the first and largest food park in Greece. This new market will ensure common conditions of competition, the income of fishermen, the Greek public and OKAA, whilst reducing household spending.

Two PPP projects have been recently awarded in Greece. Archidoron Group NV - Intrakat - Envitec consortium was selected as the preferred bidder for the Epirus waste management in early September and the preferred bidders were selected for 3 rural broadband development in mid August.
