Thailand conducts market sounding road PPP

The Ministry of Transport has opened a forum to hear feedback on Nakhon Pathom - Hua Hin Motor Way collaboration project before implementing the project in 2017.

Transport Ministry Permanent Secretary Chatchai Thipsunawee presided over the Market Sounding event on Highway Department’s Nakhon Pathom – Cha Am Motor Way project, which covers a distance of about 109 kilometers, with an investment budget of THB64 billion (US$1.79 billion).

The project is part of the Highways Department’s 2017 action plan and Motor Way No 8 (Nakhon Chaisri – Sungai Kolok, Narathiwat).

This seminar will lead to recruitment from the private sector to co-invest in the project within 2017. Constructions will begin in 2018 and will take three years to complete. Initially, the route will be ready for public use in 2022 and will accommodate approximately 43,673 vehicles per day and gradually increased to 122,108 vehicles per day in 2051, with the service capacity expanding by 3.5 percent annually

The route will alleviate traffic congestion along the Phetkasem Road, the main route leading to the Southern region of Thailand.
