Zimbabwe signs water PPP

China CAMC Engineering has signed a contract for the Masvingo sewage pumping and treatment plant upgrading project with Masvingo Government.

Chairman of CAMCE Luo Yan and Vice President of CAMCE Hu Wei signed the contracts with the Mayor of Masvingo Hubert Feliz and deacon of Masvingo town hall Adolf Kusa. Zimbabwe Provincial Minister of State for Masvingo Shuvaye Mahuphe and other government representatives witnessed the contract signature.

The project will be developed through a public private partnership (PPP) model. It includes the upgrade of a the sewage treatment plant and the pumping station. It also involves the development of a new sewage treatment plant, a other related facilities including a sewage pipeline.

The PPP contract value is estimated at US$73.5 million.

The project is located in Masvingo a town in south-eastern Zimbabwe and the capital of Masvingo Province. It has a population of approximately 75,000 inhabitants
