Capita acquires BCS Design

Capita plc has acquired the British firm BCS Design, a Building Civil & Structural Engineering Design consultancy specializing in the fields of Rail, Highways and Temporary Works design.

Financial terms of the transaction has not been disclosed.

BCS Design provides a wide range of civil, structural, geotechnical engineering and surveying services in markets including rail, highways, industrial and utilities.

BCS Design delivers a range of projects for major infrastructure clients across the UK. Some of its recently completed projects include depots, platform extensions, and power supply enhancements, as well as new signalling infrastructure for over 290 km of operational railway in the South West. The company also has an alliance with a leading design, build, finance, operate (DBFO) organization to manage and maintain the structures on a 120 km stretch of a major UK motorway as part of a 30 year franchise.

The company will join Capita's 4,200 strong property and infrastructure business. The acquisition will expand Capita's existing capabilities in its core markets, enable BCS Design to target larger projects and programmes, and create opportunities to deliver a wider range of expertise and transformational partnerships with clients.

Simon Birchall, executive director at Capita Property & Infrastructure, stated:

"BCS Design is an excellent cultural fit for our business. It reflects our commitment to growth, both organically and through the acquisition of strong and innovative businesses, that expand our existing teams and provide the best solutions for our clients. BCS Design is a well-established, award-winning business in key target markets for us and I welcome its people to our business."

Steve Osbaldeston, managing director of BCS Design commented:

"We are excited to be joining Capita. Working as part of a major consultancy will allow us to invest in the future growth of our business, further develop our staff, and target larger projects and programmes - as well as giving our clients access to the skills and transformational expertise of a market-leading business."
