Grece issues tender notice for the Eastern Macedonia - Thrace waste management PPP

An Invitation for Expression of Interest has been published for the implementation of waste management facilities in the region of Eastern Macedonia - Thrace through a PPP, with the Municipality of Alexandroupolis acting as contracting authority.

The deadline for the submission of expressions of interest is December 3rd, 2013.

The private partner will be selected through an international public tender through the competitive dialogue procedure and will undertake the design, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of the waste management facilities in the Eastern Macedonia & Thrace Region, for a tenor of 27 years. The facilities will have capacity to process about 155.000 tons of waste annually.

As in all waste management PPP tender competitions in Greece, the process allows all available technologies that cover the environmental targets, European and Greek legislation, fostering healthy competition among the bidders and facilitating the selection of the optimal solution. The lowest fee to be paid by the users will constitute the main selection criterion, while meeting all environmental goals.

The projects will utilize funds provided by the European Union's structural funds for the co-financing of the construction costs by 40-60%.
