Mato Grosso do Sul seeks interest to structure a sewerage PPP

The Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul, through Sanesul, launched on June 23rd the request for expression of interest (RFEOI) for consultants to structure a sewerage public private partnership (PPP) project.

Sanesul is the state-owned company, which is engaged in the operation of water supply systems in Mato Grosso du Sol, covering 125 localities, 68 municipalities and 57 districts. The firm has 20 water treatment plants, 357 active wells and 35 water treatment stations.

The project is part of the state's 10-year plan to reach universal sewerage services. This plan represents a reduction of 35 years from the previous plan, which established a period of 45 years to reach the same objective.

Mato Grosso do Sul, which has a total area of 357,125 km² and a population of about 2.5 million inhabitants, is one of the Central-Western states of Brazil. The economy of the state is largely based on agriculture and cattle-raising.
