Papua New Guinea seeks consultant for airport PPP

The World Bank has launched a tender process to seek consultancy firms to provide advice to the Papua New Guinea Government on issues related to the development of Jacksons International Airport, located in Port Moresby.

The specific objectives are to:

  1. Determine the airport infrastructure investment required to ensure that Jacksons Airport is able to cater for traffic related to the APEC 2018 event; and
  2. Develop an outline business case for a PPP to implement long term development and investment needs at Jacksons Airport.

The consultant will support IFC in providing advice to PNG Treasury and the National Airports Corporation on these issues.

Jacksons International Airport, also known as Port Moresby Airport, is located 8km away from Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea. The airport is the biggest in the country, and also the busiest in terms of passenger traffic. National Airports Corporation of New Guinea takes care of the operations and management of the airport. Port Moresby Jacksons International Airport is a primary hub of Airlines PNG and Air Niugini, the national airline of the country.

The World Bank Group has invited eligible firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc. for firms; CV and cover letter for individuals).

The deadline for submitting proposals is tomorrow, September 27.
