Sao Paulo municipality starts to explore PPPs The city of Sorocaba, in the state of Sao Paulo, has recently approved a law on public-private partnerships (PPP) and has started studies for a few projects.

The Municipal Law 10.474/2013 opened the PPP program and established basic rules of governance.

The new rules govern the use of  the procedure for Expressions of Interest; the so-called Procedimento de Manifestação de Interesse (PMIs) in Portuguese.

The new piece of legislation also created a PPP Unit, linked to the Department of Finance of the city.

PPP Brasil informed that there are already two projects being analyzed by the city: the construction of a public hospital in the north of the city and a rapid bus system.
