Three bidders announced for rail PPP in Uruguay

Three consortia submitted proposals for the realization of the Fray Bentos - Algorta rail rehabilitation PPP project in Uruguay.

As we reported Uruguay's transport and public works ministry (MTOP) and state rail administrator (AFE) launched in January the tender process for the rail rehabilitation PPP project. Upon the contract award, the winning team will run the concession over a 30-years period.

The project involves the rehabilitation of a 141km freight rail line between the cities of Fray Bentos (Río Negro) and Algorta (Río Negro) in order to improve cargo transport. According to sources the expected investment for the project stands at US$90 million.
