National Intermodal Corporation (NIC) is a wholly-owned government business enterprise (GBE) of the Australian Government. NIC was established in 2022 to support the planning, delivery and operation of the Australian Government's significant investment in new intermodal terminals across Australia's east Coast. NIC's role includes:

  • Developing and operating intermodal terminals;
  • Providing access to intermodal terminals for freight operators;
  • Promoting the use of intermodal transport; and
  • Working with industry to develop new intermodal transport solutions.

NIC is working to make intermodal transport a more attractive option for freight operators. By developing and operating world-class intermodal terminals, NIC is helping to improve the efficiency and sustainability of Australia's freight transport network.
