Uzma Berhad

Company description

Founded in 2000 as a manpower consultancy, Uzma has evolved into one of Malaysia’s leading energy and technology companies, with operations in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The company manages a diverse portfolio encompassing oil & gas services, renewable energy, solar power projects, and emerging space technology solutions—including satellite imagery and geospatial analytics.

Recent Milestones

  • Financial Performance: In the nine months ending March 31, 2025, Uzma generated RM 512.2 million in revenue—up nearly 29% year-on-year—with profit before tax rising slightly to RM 42.4 million. Their Q3 FY2025 revenue (RM 168.7 million) grew 58% year-on-year, yielding gross profit of RM 70.5 million and PBT of RM 14.9 million.

  • New Energy & Digital Growth: Expansion in renewable energy projects, including the energisation of the Uzma Kuala Muda Solar Farm under Malaysia’s SELCO and LSS programmes, boosted revenue. Uzma’s Digital Earth ("UzmaDE") platform is gaining traction, particularly in satellite-based environmental monitoring and data analytics.

  • Space Technology Leadership: In January 2025, Uzma launched UzmaSAT‑1, Malaysia’s first commercial very high-resolution Earth observation satellite. Shortly after, the company secured the Pembangunan Satelit Penderiaan Jauh Negara (PSPJN) project—an eight-year public–private partnership under Malaysia’s National Space Policy 2030—to design, develop, and operate a sovereign remote sensing satellite via its subsidiary Geospatial AI Sdn Bhd.

  • Oil & Gas Services: Uzma continues to offer drilling-well support, seismic data acquisition, and infrastructure services to PETRONAS and other upstream operators, reinforcing its foothold in Malaysia’s energy sector.

  • Renewables & Energy Storage: Through participation in government solar tender programmes and BESS initiatives, Uzma is aligning its business strategy with Malaysia’s net-zero by 2050 ambitions.

  • Geospatial & Satellite Solutions: The development and operation of PSPJN underpins Uzma’s rising role in providing multispectral satellite imagery and AI-driven analytics—delivering critical data for agriculture, disaster response, security, and more, while supporting national self-reliance goals.
