Amazonas signs prison PPP project

The state of Amazonas (Brazil) and the consortium formed by Umanizzare Gestão Prisional e Serviços and LFG Locações e Serviço Ltda. recently signed a prison public private partnership (PPP) project.

The concessionaire will be responsible for the development / upgrade, operation and maintenance of penitentiary units for a period of 27 years.

The contract value is estimated at R$206 million (US$65.3 million). 

The contract is the second PPP that the state signs. Previously, the state signed Manaus' Hospital da Zona Norte PPP project.

Amazonas state is located in the northwestern corner of the Brazil. It is the largest Brazilian State by area. The capital and largest city is Manaus, which has 1.7 million inhabitants.

Two days ago we published that EcoRodovias Infraestrutura & Logistica SA emerged as the preferred bidder for the new Rio-Niterói Bridge concession in the State of Rio de Janeiro.
