Chile's MOP launches two hospital concession tenders

The Government of Chile has published the tender process for two hospital concessions, the hospital Sótero del Río and the hospital Santiago Occidente.

  • For the hospital Santiago Occidente, the technical and economic offers will be received on 21 of January 2014. This project will have an estimated investment of US$ 237 million. The hospital will have a floor area of 131,000 m2, 55 boxes, 11 halls and 523 beds.
  • For the hospital Sótero del rio, the technical and economic offers will be received on 28 of January 2014. This project will have an approximate investment of US$ 394 million. The hospital will have a floor area of 220.000 m2, 173 boxes, 49 halls and 710 beds.

Both projects include the construction, the provision of clinical and non-clinical furniture, the medical equipment, the industrial equipment and furnishings associated. Additionally, the contract include the infrastructure maintenance and the maintenance of medical equipment among others.

MOP's hospital concessions program is part of the government's programme of concessioned public infrastructure, which calls for the concession of 11 hospitals between 2010 and 2014, with total investment of US$2.2 billion.

Both hospitals were severely damaged during the 8.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the country's central-southern regions in February 2010.
