Infrastructure Ontario and Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS), in partnership with the Ministry of Health, have announced the Substantial Completion of the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital (WLMH) Redevelopment project located in Grimsby, Canada.
Substantial Completion is the date when the facility is ready for use in accordance with the contractual requirements and marks the end of all major construction. Over the next few months, HHS will begin a transition period, which includes transitioning operations to the new facility. Doors will open to patients in late fall 2025.
WLMH has been caring for West Niagara residents for over 70 years. As a site of HHS, WLMH also serves as a point of access to one of the largest health systems in Canada for patients requiring more specialized care. This redevelopment project involved the construction of a new, larger hospital to serve the West Niagara community and features acute inpatient beds, a 24-hour emergency department, maternal and newborn services, day surgical services including endoscopy and minor procedures, increased outpatient (ambulatory) care space to expand availability of consultation services closer to home, and advanced diagnostics including X-ray, mammography, echocardiography and ultrasound, and CT scanner.
