Construction work to begin for USD4.52 billion Expressway PPP project in India

The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) expects to begin groundworks for the Ganga Expressway project in Uttar Pradesh by September 30, 2022. The 595 km long six-lane highway will pass through 12 districts connecting Meerut to Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, India.

The highway will occupy 7,974 ha of land out of which UPEIDA has already acquired more than 94% of the land and completed close to 60% of the clearing works. The expressway is divided into 12 work packages that are undertaken by two concessionaires. IRB Infrastructure Development will be responsible for the implementation of 3 packages while Adani Group will execute the remaining 9 packages.

The estimated investment value for the project is INR360 billion (US$4.5 billion) with a concession period of 30 years. The Ganga Expressway will be interlinked with four other expressways located in Uttar Pradesh. The project is expected to be completed by 2024.
