The UK government, through the Department for Transport (DfT), has launched a preliminary market engagement notice for a £360 million (US$480 million) engineering and design contract to support the transformative Euston programme. This initiative aims to create a fully integrated transport hub at Euston Station, encompassing upgrades to the existing mainline station, significant improvements to the London Underground interchange, and enhancements to local bus and taxi facilities, alongside the development of a new high-speed station for HS2. The Euston Delivery Company (EDC) will oversee the project, which is central to Camden Council and the Greater London Authority’s broader plans for commercial and residential development in the area. The selected engineering and design partner will lead multidisciplinary tasks, including design, masterplanning, programme scheduling, and stakeholder engagement with entities like HS2, Network Rail, Transport for London, and the London Borough of Camden, while collaborating with Lendlease, the appointed master-planner, and its architects. The DfT seeks firms with proven expertise in complex, multi-modal transport infrastructure projects.
The contract, set to begin in January 2027 with a core term of five years and potential extensions, will involve a separate private finance partner for the detailed design and construction of the HS2 station. Firms interested in participating must express interest by 7 November 2025 via the Jaggaer portal, with market engagement scheduled for mid to late November 2025 and the tender notice expected in May 2026. This programme underscores Euston’s role as a critical transport and development hub for both local and national significance.
