Ferrovial Consortium Named Preferred Bidder for €2.9 Billion Highway PPP in Czech Republic

Ferrovial’s Cintra, together with Budimex, STRABAG and Invesis, has been selected as the preferred bidder by the Czech Ministry of Transport for the €2.9 billion (US$3.26 billion) D35 highway PPP project in the Czech Republic.

The project includes the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the D35 sections between Opatovec and Staré Město and between Staré Město and Mohelnice, totaling 35.4 kilometers of the new highway. The contract also includes the operation and maintenance of the adjacent 17-kilometer section between Litomyšl and Opatovec, bringing the total network under management to c. 52 kilometers. The project also includes the construction of two tunnels measuring approximately 4 kilometers and 1.3 kilometers in length. The D35 is one of the Czech Republic’s most significant transportation infrastructure projects and, upon completion, will improve connectivity between Bohemia and Moravia while helping relieve congestion on the existing I/35 and D1 corridors.

Ferrovial, through its highways business Cintra, brings extensive experience in developing and operating public-private partnership transport infrastructure across Europe, North America and Australia. Budimex, a leading construction company in Central Europe, has decades of experience delivering major road, rail and civil infrastructure projects.
