Financial close achieved for USD133 million road PPP project in Colombia

Mota Engil and Coherpa-Icein, project owners for the Ibagué-Honda-Cambao-Manizales corridor concession, have secured COP458 billion (US$116.76 million) funding from Bancolombia, IPC, and CAF-AM Ashmore I fund. The project is under construction and 43.55% of the works have been completed. The works are under progress on 42 different fronts and are expected to be finished soon.

According to the financial agreement, Bancolombia will provide investments of COP165.30 billion (US$42.14 million), IPC will finance COP116.70 billion (US$29.75 million) and CAF-AM Ashmore I will COP176 billion (US$44.87 million). Once completed, the project will add 256 kilometers of roads to the national road network of Colombia. The project is part of Colombia's fourth-generation roads concessions (4G concession).

The works of this project will allow to promote tourism in the north of Tolima and thus generate commercial ties with the department of Caldas. Currently, work is continuing to adapt the asphalt layer between Ibagué and the Armero crossing, and between Cambao and this same crossing, and it is expected that by the end of 2021 there will be 166 km rehabilitated, paved and improved.
