Guatemala launches building PPP tender

Guatemala's national agency for the development of economic infrastructure (ANADIE) has launched a tender process for the state administration Center PPP project.

The project will be developed in Tegucigalpa where the old central train station is currently located. The area under construction will be approximately 300,000m², the new facilites will have an area of 180,000 m² and 4,500 parking spaces.

The project will be developed on  a design, build, operate and transfer (DBOT) basis. The contract will have a period of 20 years.

Construction works are scheduled to begin by 2016 and the new building is expected to be operational by the third quarter of 2018.

Interested parties must have experience in implementing PPP projects worth over US$200 million. In addition they must have US$150 million in capital or at least prove that they can raise that amount.

Bidders must submit their proposals on or before 16 March 2015.

In October ANADIE launched a tender process to hire a transaction advisor for the project. The transaction was responsible to support ANADIE to define the tender process and to conduct a legal, technical and financial structuring of the project.

Guatemala awarded this year a PPP project that involves the development of the new Puerto Quetzal Container Terminal. On 17 April 2014, Grup TCB was selected to operate the new terminalGrup TCB will invest US$120 million.
