I Squared Capital acquires district energy business

I Squared Capital (ISQ), through its ISQ Global Infrastructure Fund, has announced the acquisition of a 100 percent interest in DTE CoolCo, LLC (CoolCo) from DTE Energy Services, Inc.

CoolCo is a 10,350-ton district chilling system providing cooling services to a large and diverse customer base including commercial offices, retail establishments, hotels, cultural institutions, historical landmarks, government buildings, and institutional facilities, including a football stadium and a convention center, in the central business district of Cincinnati, Ohio.

ISQ is committed to providing outstanding service to existing CoolCo customers as well as expanding CoolCo's network to provide efficient, environmentally sustainable and cost-effective cooling to additional customers in downtown Cincinnati.

This is ISQ's second investment focused on district energy following its investment in Kendall Green Energy, a 256-megawatt co-generation facility in Cambridge, Massachusetts in January of this year.

I Squared Capital (ISQ) is an independent infrastructure investment and management platform that focuses on energy, utilities, and transport in US, Europe, and select high growth economies based on risk-adjusted metrics across sectors and geographies. I Squared Capital is headquartered in New York, with investment and operating teams in London, Singapore, Hong Kong, and New Delhi.

I Squared Capital is looking to raise US$2 billion for its global infrastructure fund. I Squared Capital is headed by former executives of Morgan Stanley's infrastructure business, Partners, Sadek Wahba, Gautam Bhandari and Adil Rahmathulla.
