India seeks TA for wastewater project

The Indian Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation has launched a tender process to hire a transaction advisory (TA) team for the Mathura-Vrindavan Wastewater PPP project.

The project will involves the development of a wastewater treatment plant for river cleaning, wastewater treatment and reuse in the cities of Mathura and Vrindavan. This is a pilot project that, if successful,  could be replicated in other parts of the country.

The TA team will have to advise on the financial and commercial, and PPP structuring aspects of the project.

To be more specific, the team will have to:

  • provide assistance in preparing the PPP transaction
  • support the identification of private developer through a tender process
  • draft commercial contracts for wastewater treatment and its offtake

Mathura is a city in the North Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is located approximately 50 km north of Agra, and 145 km south-east of Delhi. It is the administrative centre of Mathura District. The city has a population of approximately 450,000 inhabitants.

Vrindavan is a town in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. The town is about 10 km away from Mathura, Krishna's birthplace on the Agra-Delhi highway. The town has a population of approximately 65,000 inhabitants.
