Jordan Launches Smart Parking Project Through Public-Private Partnership

Amman Vision for Investment and Development (AVID), the investment arm of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), has launched a smart parking initiative in Amman that will be delivered through a partnership with the private sector. AVID has called on local and international companies to submit expressions of interest and prequalification documents for the project, which seeks to develop and operate a citywide smart parking network. The scheme will integrate both on-street and off-street parking facilities through a single digital platform, offering real-time parking availability information and a range of associated services.

The project will span key roads, commercial hubs and park-and-ride sites linked to the bus rapid transit (BRT) system, with a target of managing approximately 5,600 smart parking spaces via a unified platform by 2031. Details regarding the contract model, concession duration and allocation of risks between stakeholders will be finalized during the request for proposals (RFP) phase.

Under the partnership, GAM will maintain ownership of all key public assets and retain complete regulatory oversight, including control of project-related data. AVID has invited firms with demonstrated experience in smart parking technologies, urban mobility services and smart city solutions to take part in the procurement process by submitting the necessary documentation. Interested companies are required to submit expressions of interest by June 8, while statements of qualifications must be filed by June 29.
