Kenya seeks EOIs to build 6,000 housing units through PPP

The Kenyan Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from local and international investors to indicate their interest in developing 6,000 housing units in Nairobi City county.

The Government of Kenya through the Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development under the National Housing Programme seeks to facilitate the development of over 300,000 housing units across the country and it has advanced that most of the housing development will be done through PPP contractual arrangements.

The programme commences with the construction of over 6,000 housing units in parcels of land located in Nairobi City county. The projects will comprise financing, design, construction and management of housing units and associated amenities as indicated below:

  • Park Road Housing Project: 1,000 housing units
  • Shauri Moyo Housing Project: 1,200 housing units
  • Starehe Housing Project: 4,000 housing units

It is expected the construction will take about 2 years while operations and transfers may take 10 years.

There will be a pre-expression of interest conference to be held in the Boardroom, Ministry of Land, Housing and Urban Development on 12th floor wing 'B' Ardhi House, 1st Ngong Avenue, Community, Nairobi, Kenya starting at 10.00 a.m., thereafter followed by a visit to the three sites on 17th January, 2014.

Expressions of Interest must be delivered or submitted by 12:00 noon Kenyan time on 31" January, 2014.
