Malaysia launches tender for waste-to-energy PPP

The government of Malaysia has issued a tender for private partners for a waste to energy treatment plant in Kuala Lumpur, the Kepong Solid Waste Transfer Station.

The project will be located at Kepong, a town at the borders Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, located about 6 km from the Kuala Lumpur City Center, to the south of Sungai Buloh.

This tender is open to companies registered in Malaysia or a joint-venture/consortium with at least one incorporated company in Malaysia with 51% of its shareholdings to be held by Malaysian controlled entities.

The deadline for completion and submission of Pre-Qualification is 12:00 p.m. (Malaysia time) on 28th April 2014.

Malaysia is to award another PPP project, the Hospital Umum Sarawak PPP project, for which the RFP has already been issued. Recently, Cypark Resoucers Bhd won the Negeri Sembilan waste BOT project in the country.
