Megawide consortium signs PPP contract for Manila's first transport terminal project

MWM Terminals, a consortium between Megawide Construction Corp. and MWM Property Management, has signed the contract to develop the Integrated Transport System (ITS) for the Cavite Southwest Terminal in Philippines.

The terminal will connect passengers from Cavite to other transport systems such as the future Light Rail Transit Line 1 south extension to Bacoor as well as city bus, taxi, and other public utility vehicles plying Metro Manila.

The project includes the financing, design and construction of passenger terminal building, arrival and departure bays, public information system, ticketing and baggage handling facilities and park-ride facilities. The winning contractor will also operate and maintain the terminal for a period of 35 years.

The project will be implemented using a Build-Transfer-Operate (BOT) arrangement.

The total project investment is estimated at P3.27 billion (US$73.8 million).. The contract has a total value estimated at P4 billion (US$90.3 million).

The new facilities are expected to be operational by 2017.
