Minas Gerais seeks consultant for Belo Horizonte airport link

Brazil's Minas Gerais state has launched a request for expressions of interest for consultants to prepare feasibility studies to develop a railway transport link between the international airport "Tancredo Neves" and downtown Belo Horizonte through a PPP project.

The request is being handled by the state Department of Transport and Public Works (SETOP).

The project is expected to involve the development, operation and maintenance of the airport link for a period of 35 years. The project will link the airport with Vespasiano, Lagoa Santa, Confins and Belo Horizonte.

Interested parties must submit their expressions of interest on or before 1 July 2014. Those teams approved by the administration will have 75 days to prepare the studies.

Belo Horizonte has several PPP projects in planning stage. On 5 February 2013, a public hearing was held to make public the bidding process for the northern stretch of Belo Horizonte ring road through a PPP.

On 20 February 2014, the state of Minas Gerais, through the Department of Economic Development, launched the public consultation for a convention centre PPP project to be located in Belo Horizonte.

In mid April we reported that the municipality of Belo Horizonte had announced plans to develop a new city hall through a public-private partnership (PPP) structure. The project will be developed on a design, build, finance, operation and maintenance basis.
