Oman seeks for advisors for Salalah water project

The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company SAOC (OPWP) has launched a tender process to hire advisors for the Salalah Independent Water project (IWP).

The project will have a water capacity between 18-22 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) with a commercial operation date of the plant by early 2019.

OPWP wishes to appoint qualified and experienced advisors to provide professional financial and commercial, technical and legal advisory services in relation to the procurement of water from the Salalah IWP.

Interested parties must submit their proposals onor before 13 April 2015.

In 2009, Sembcorp Salalah Power & Water Company developed the Salalah Independent Water and Power Plant in Oman under a PPP structure. The Salalah IWPP covered the installation and operation of a gas-fired combine cycle power plant with a net capacity of 445 MW and a 15 MIGD seawater reverse osmosis desalination treatment facility.

The plant supplies power and potable water under a 15-year power and water purchase agreement to the OPWP. The plant has been fully operational since 2012.
