P3 projects in Canada and the US Virginia gets two new bids for HRBT expansion. USA
Two more private companies submitted bids to the state this week to expand the notoriously congested Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. The Virginia Department of Transportation already has an unsolicited proposal from Hampton Roads Crossings to double the size of the bridge-tunnel and operate it as a toll road.
Hampton Roads Crossings is composed of  Skanska Infrastructure Development, Kiewit Infrastructure Co., Skanska USA Civil, Weeks Marine Inc. and Parsons Brinckerhoff.
The new proposals were submitted by:
- ACS Infrastructure Development Inc., Dragados USA Inc., Flatiron Constructors Inc. and Moffatt & Nichol and
- Cintra Infraestructuras and Ferrovial
Following financial close the consortium will be responsible for a design, build, finance and maintain project which includes a new build 21-storey hospital of 225,000m2 floor area, 772 single-bed rooms and a new energy centre.
All of the joint venture partners are investors in the project through a special purpose private finance entity, with Laing O'Rourke and OHL responsible for the design and build of the new hospital.
Dalkia Canada will be the facilities management provider and HCP Social Infrastructure Canada is acting as project manager.
RFQ for the construction of the Interior Heart and Surgical Centre (IHSC). Canada
Interior Health released a request for qualifications (RFQ) for the construction of the Interior Heart and Surgical Centre (IHSC) building at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH).
The cost of the entire multi-phase project is an estimated $448 million.The IHSC project includes a four- torey, 12,970-square-metre (139,590-square-foot) state-of-the-art facility designed to accommodate cardiac and inpatient surgical suites, support  spaces and a new medical device reprocessing department.
