  • Lae - the new container terminal in the East Tidal Basin imminently to be extended to a two berth facility, initially handling 140,000 teu pa plus 365,000 frt of general cargo on container vessels.

PNG Ports will consider operation of the terminals by an independent entity or via partnership arrangements with a local partner.

Reference is also made to the advertisement for a private sector partner for the construction of the new Lae port facilities and EOI from interested parties for both the terminal operator and construction of the new port facilities within a public private partnership (PPP) framework will be accepted.

Interested parties should respond via email to pngpcl.pppeoi@pngports.com.pg.

The cities of Port Moresby and Lae are international gateways, offering the potential for private sector operational and investment partners to share in the success of this region. Both cities have strong trade forecasts in line with growth of GDP.
