Sao Paulo court suspends waste concession project

Sao Paulo's Federal Audit Court (TCE/SP), Brazil, has suspended the tender process for the São Roque waste concession project.

TCE/SP suspended the contract after two companies, Proactiva Meio Ambiente Brasil and Etelvino Nogueira presented complaints regarding the tender process.

The concession would have involved São Roque waste-works including collection, treatment and disposal of the city's solid waste. The concession would be for a period of 30 years.

The total project investment was estimated at R$20 million (US$5.15 million) and the concession would have a value of approximately R$700 million (US$180.3 million).

Interested parties had to submit proposals on or before 4 December 2015.

São Roque  is a city in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of Sorocaba. The population is about 87,000 inhabitants in an area of 307 km².
