Saudi Arabia's National Center for Privatization & PPP (NCP) has announced the results of the EOI stage for the Development and Operation of the National Digital Platform for Waste Management. A total of 123 firms submitted EOIs, demonstrating strong private-sector interest in supporting the Kingdom's digital transformation and environmental sustainability agenda. 

The project is being jointly developed by the National Center for Waste Management (MWAN), the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA), the Environment Fund, and NCP under a PPP model. It will be delivered through an 11-year Design, Build, Finance, Operate, Maintain and Transfer (DBFOMT) contract, with the selected private partner responsible for financing, developing, operating, and maintaining the national digital platform before transferring it back to the government at the end of the concession period. 

The companies expressing interest represent a broad cross-section of industries. The largest group comprises 48 information technology and digital transformation firms, followed by 21 companies specializing in environment, waste management, and sustainability. The remaining participants include 18 consultancy firms, 11 telecommunications and digital infrastructure companies, 9 investment and business development firms, 7 contracting, operations and maintenance companies, 5 business services providers, and 4 industrial and manufacturing companies. This diverse participation reflects the multidisciplinary expertise required to deliver a nationwide digital waste management ecosystem.

The National Digital Platform for Waste Management is intended to become the Kingdom's centralized digital infrastructure for the waste sector. The platform will integrate the entire waste management value chain by supporting licensing and permitting, electronic waste tracking (e-manifest), customer and stakeholder management, regulatory reporting, compliance monitoring, data analytics, marketplace services, and smart contracts. It will also provide centralized data collection and reporting to improve operational efficiency, transparency, and regulatory oversight across Saudi Arabia's waste management ecosystem.
