Technical advisor sought for Mersey bridge PFI

On February 19, 2014, Halton Borough Council launched a tender process to find a technical adviser for the Mersey Gateway Project.

The Mersey Gateway Crossings Board, a separate legal entity to manage project contracts and toll revenues, requires a Technical Adviser to advise on various technical elements of the project.

The candidates should possess a proven knowledge, qualifications, ability, and experience of the management and delivery of a wide range of infrastructure projects, including significant and multi-disciplinary projects, and  all related technical, contractual and administrative aspects of managing large projects.

The request to participate must be submitted on or before March 3, 2014.

Merseylink consortium, comprising Macquarie Capital Group Limited, Bilfinger Project Investments Europe Limited and FCC Construcción as project sponsors, emerged in June 2014 as the preferred bidder for the project .

The estimated investment for the project is £600 million.

The project entails a 30-year contract to design, build, finance and operate a new toll bridge over the Mersey river. The existing Silver Jubilee Bridge will also be tolled as part of the project.
