Uruguay to tender two more road PPPs soon

The Minister of Transport and Public Works of Uruguay, Victor Rossi, has announced plans to launch two tender processes to develop roads through PPP model.

The Minister said the tender processes will be launched before 18 December this year. The road projects to be developed on a PPP basis are the following:

Additionally, the Minister has announced that the government aims to deliver each tender process every two or three months, leaving a space so that the market can absorb the projects.

The government of Uruguay has plans to improve the country's road system. It is expected that several projects involving about 4270 km of roads will be carried out.

Earlier this month, we reported that a Sacyr-led team was selected as the preferred bidder to develop three sections of the route 21 and 24 through a PPP model. The 179 km road project will involve the development of the section 2 of the route 21 and the sections 2 and 3 of the route 24.
