The Supreme Decree awarding Sacyr Concesiones Chile S.p.A. the Second Concession for Route 68 was published in the Official Gazette. The company will be responsible for modernizing the highway, with an investment of UF 35,970,000 (approximately USD 1,619 million), the largest in the system to date. The new concessionaire will assume control of the project starting July 1, when the current concession expires, for a period of 30 years.
The contract, which covers 141 km, covers the construction and operation of this important interurban road connecting the Metropolitan and Valparaíso regions.
The new Route 68 concession begins at the Pajaritos Junction, in the municipalities of Estación Central and Lo Prado, and ends in Valparaíso. The route runs through the municipalities of Estación Central, Lo Prado, Pudahuel, Curacaví, Casablanca, Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Quilpué, and Villa Alemana.
This concession contract also includes a series of secondary routes such as Route 60-CH Vía Las Palmas (9.95 km) and Route 60-CH Troncal Sur (20.55 km), as well as part of the project called “Nudo Pajaritos” (1.22 km)
